WHY SO TABOO?
Why are interracial relationships still considered to be taboo?
I answer this question and many others in my no. 1 most requested seminar.
Even after John and Yoko, and Heidi and Seal, interracial relationships are still considered taboo. Society¡¯s discomfort is especially obvious in tshe media, where interracial couples are constantly exploited for eroticism or shock value.
In this audio seminar, I examine the historical origins of this tension and explore the common assumptions made about interracial couples. I demonstrate that while race plays an undeniable role in shaping the dynamics within interracial relationships, it does so in far more complex and subtle ways than people may initially think.

WHAT THE AUDIO SEMINAR COVERS
Here are just some of the questions this audio seminar addresses:
Why are Asian women 3 times more likely to marry white men than Asian men are to marry white women?
Why do we see so many black/white interracial couples in the media when in reality, blacks are the least likely among people of color to marry interracially?
Why do people associate the race of your partner with your racial loyalty?
Why are gay Asian men who are romantically involved with each other sometimes referred to disparagingly as ¡°lesbians¡±?

To give you a sense of what to expect from this audio seminar, here are some testimonials from people who have attended live presentations of this seminar in the past:
¡°I feel like I¡¯ve been walking around with blinders on. The myths you presented really challenged me to be aware of these attitudes. Also, I feel challenged to pay attention to my own preconceptions about interracial couples.¡±

¡°That was one of the best seminars or talks I¡¯ve been to, and I¡¯m a junior already¡ She made it very inclusive in talking about interracial relationships. She didn¡¯t just focus on one race or one orientation¡ Students were really engaged.¡±
